Geolocation and Direction Finding (DF) are two distinct techniques used in radiolocation to determine the source of a transmission. Geolocation involves accurately pinpointing the position of a transmission in two or three dimensions. On the other hand, DF provides the bearing or angle from the sensor to the transmitter, without directly providing the precise location of the transmission. There are several established radiolocation techniques available to identify the source of a given signal. These techniques include Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA), Power on Arrival (POA), and Angle of Arrival (AOA). Each technique has its own strengths and limitations, making them suitable for different types of signals. IIO Technologies adopts a comprehensive approach by utilizing all three techniques, depending on the specific application. By combining TDOA, POA, and AOA, the system can increase the probability of accurately locating the source of a signal. The outputs obtained from these techniques can be overlaid onto maps or other visual representations, further aiding in the identification and localization of the transmission source.
